The villages of Milford and Witley are set in the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and surrounded by National Trust and National Nature Reserve land.  Both villages have extensive Conservation Areas, Tudor buildings and cottages designed by Lutyens.  Witley’s medieval church has unusual wall paintings dating back to 1120.

Between them, the two villages have four pubs and restaurants as well as Secretts of Milford, a well-stocked farm shop selling own-grown fruit and veg and local produce, plus a boutique gift store and tempting cafe.

Highlights of your visit:

  • Both villages are perfect places to start enjoying walks into the local countryside and exploring some of the more scattered hamlets and houses of the Surrey Hills.
  • The birdwatching opportunities and range of interesting plants are outstanding including the nightingales and mysterious nightjars on Witley Common.
  • In season, Witley Common is a fungi-hunters’ paradise.
  • The 12th century church of All Saints and nearby historic buildings
  • Visit the Surrey Guild Craft Gallery, a cooperative, where 120 members of the Surrey Guild of Craftsmen showcase their work in regular exhibitions.
  • Details of the range of suggested walks are available online at www.witley-pc.gov.uk/parish-area/walks-in-the-parish
