Hello and welcome to the Hills to Harbour Community Rail Partnership!

We’re all about getting more people using the train – whether you’re a daily commuter, weekend adventurer, or just popping out for a cream tea somewhere new.

We work closely with the rail industry, local councils, businesses, volunteers, tourist spots and loads of brilliant community folk to help breathe life into our stations and encourage more visitors to hop on board and explore everything this beautiful area has to offer.

Why Hills to Harbour?

The Line passes through the stations of Guildford, Farncombe, Godalming, Milford, Witley, Haslemere, Liphook, Liss, Petersfield, Rowlands Castle, Havant, Bedhampton, Hilsea, Fratton, Cosham, Portsmouth and Southsea and Portsmouth Harbour linking the Hills of Surrey and East Hampshire to the sea at Portsmouth.

The line will take travellers through two beautiful protected landscapes; the Surrey Hills National Landscape and the South Downs National Park.

You will find tranquillity, wildlife, wonderful views and outdoor activities for all abilities. Explore the woodlands, heathlands, commons, and the coast.

Discover the variety of independent shops and cafes, save the date to attend the farmers markets and other local markets held throughout the year.

Learn about local history and the well-known artists and writes associated with the area.  There are many museums, galleries and art trails to visit.

All places are accessible by train. Leave the car at home and relax whilst you stare out of the window and enjoy the landscapes as you start to unwind, enjoy the conversations with your travel companions.

Enjoy a day our or spend a few days – you will not get bored with so much to see or do.

Why do we do what we do?

Our activities incorporate the Department for Transport’s Community Rail Development Strategy’s objectives:

  • Providing a voice for the community
  • Promoting sustainable, health and accessible travel
  • Bringing communities together and supporting diversity and inclusion
  • Supporting social and economic development

The full strategy can be found here.

We welcome local people to volunteer with us and join in with our activities, so please get in touch

If you would like to help us – if you live near one of these stations and can be a volunteer on a station adoption scheme, or if you just want to join in our activities please do get in touch.

We look forward to seeing you soon
