Walk Description

This walk is a delightful circuit of Bentley village and points west before crossing into Binsted parish and sampling the unique Hanger landscape. The route starts over open fields before crossing the River Wey on Green Bridge, then follows quiet lanes and paths, including parts St Swithin’s Way. Sights along the way include an attractive 12th century church, the vineyard at Jenkyn Place and Pax Hill. This was the original home of Robert Baden-Powell, founder of the Scout movement. After Pax Hill, the walk crosses fields to Isington, passing Isington Mill and the attractive 18th century Miller`s House. The final part of the walk follows tracks and paths to climb the hanger onto the Binsted plateau, before descending through Redcap Copse and returning to Bentley station.
