Walk Description
This is a beautiful, short, circular walk to the south of Ashurst station, through heathland and woodland. Ponies are a given and deer a possibility.
The route crosses over the Beaulieu river and passes the remains of the former, deer park boundary system as well as well as some well-preserved Bronze Age barrows. Before turning for home, the ridge at Matley Holms provides a very pleasant view across in the direction of Lyndhurst.
Walk Leader
Alan Farr is a member of Ashurst Walking Group. The group runs circular walks twice a month at various points in the New Forest. It is an informal group under the auspices of the Ashurst And Colbury Community Group.
